About the role
Goal Get It! Web Services is seeking a Backend Software Engineering Intern to help build APIs, integrations, and application backends that power scholarships, outreach, and partner connectivity. You’ll contribute to production work, and you’ll use AI tools substantively for coding and documentation—while learning strong verification and security habits.
Schedule & duration
Quarterly internship aligned with academic schedules; part-time during terms, potentially full-time in summer.
What you’ll do
Build and improve backend services (TypeScript/Node, APIs, integrations).
Support data flows with third-party tools and internal systems.
Write tests, improve reliability, and participate in code review.
Use AI tools to accelerate coding/debugging/documentation—then validate correctness and security.
Education & experience
Enrolled in or recently graduated from a BS, MS, or PhD program in CS/Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Coursework/projects demonstrating backend development and API fundamentals.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Experience (coursework/projects ok) with backend development and APIs (REST and/or GraphQL).
Comfort with Git, pull requests, and code review collaboration.
Substantive AI-tool fluency for development with strong verification and safe data handling.
Nice to have
Experience with serverless/edge environments, observability, or integration patterns.
Familiarity with auth concepts (tokens, least privilege).
Working conditions
Remote work; occasional schedule flexibility during releases (with academic constraints respected).
Compensation
Expected hourly pay range (USD): $39.00 – $76.00.
This role is open to candidates regardless of location. Compensation will be based on the location of the successful candidate.
