In this role, you’ll partner with leaders and team members across the organization to strengthen core people programs—recruiting, onboarding, performance practices, employee support, and HR operations—so our team can do their best work in service of students and communities.
What you’ll do
Serve as a trusted partner to managers and employees on day-to-day people questions, workplace practices, and employee support needs.
Own or support end-to-end recruiting processes (role scoping, job postings, interview coordination, candidate experience, offers, and onboarding).
Maintain and improve onboarding and offboarding processes, documentation, and role-based checklists.
Help implement performance management rhythms (goal setting, feedback cycles, manager coaching, career development support).
Support employee relations matters with discretion and care; document issues and coordinate next steps as appropriate.
Coordinate benefits administration and employee lifecycle changes (new hires, status changes, leaves, terminations) in partnership with vendors/providers.
Maintain HR systems and records (HRIS, ATS), ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, and process compliance.
Assist with policy creation and upkeep (handbook updates, internal guidelines), aligning with organizational values and legal requirements.
Support learning and development efforts (trainings for managers, communications, internal enablement).
Track and report key people metrics (headcount, hiring pipeline, time-to-fill, onboarding completion, retention signals) and recommend improvements.
Education & experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2+ years in People Operations, HR Generalist, or HR Business Partner-type roles (or similar scope in a high-growth environment).
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong working knowledge of core People Ops functions (recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance support, employee relations).
Excellent judgment and ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Clear, empathetic communication skills; ability to coach and influence across teams.
Experience building repeatable processes, documentation, and workflows.
Comfort working in ambiguity and improving systems over time.
Proficiency with HR systems (HRIS/ATS) and operational tools (Google Workspace, spreadsheets).
Nice to have
Experience supporting distributed/remote teams.
Familiarity with multi-state employment considerations and vendor management.
Experience improving equity and consistency in hiring and people programs.
Working conditions
May occasionally require schedule flexibility to support hiring timelines or time-sensitive employee needs.
