About the role
Goal Get It! is seeking Curriculum Developers to help design our 8-12 week summer program for high school students. You will help shape what students learn and how they learn it—selecting appropriate literature, defining key discussion topics, and building the foundational techniques and scientific skills students need to succeed. This is a hands-on curriculum design role and a strong fit for candidates interested in teaching, lesson planning, and STEM education equity. After the spring term, you are welcome to continue as a curriculum developer and/or transition into a Summer Program Mentor role—many curriculum developers become mentors.
Available programs: Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Astrophysics (Astronomy), Mechanical Engineering
What you’ll do
Design weekly learning objectives and an 8–12 week program arc for your track.
Select and scaffold literature/materials (readings, papers, problem sets, labs, demos) appropriate for high school learners.
Create lesson plans, activities, and discussion prompts that build skills and confidence.
Identify background concepts and techniques students need (foundations → applied skills → mini project readiness).
Collaborate with other curriculum developers to align structure, rigor, and pacing across tracks.
Use AI tools substantively to draft lesson outlines, generate discussion questions, summarize readings, and produce reusable templates—while verifying accuracy and ensuring materials remain age-appropriate and inclusive.
Education & experience
Current undergraduate or beyond (BS/MS/PhD candidates welcome).
Some background in the relevant program area.
Exposure to research in the field (e.g., 1+ semester research lab experience or a summer internship).
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Familiarity with introductory concepts in your track (e.g., foundations that a motivated beginner can build on).
Ability to read, interpret, and explain technical literature at an accessible level.
Comfort with online collaboration tools (Slack, email, Google Meet) and Google Workspace.
Strong interest in STEM equity and inclusion and designing for diverse learners.
Substantive AI-tool fluency for curriculum drafting and iteration, with careful verification and responsible use.
Nice to have
Prior experience writing lesson plans, tutoring, teaching, TA’ing, or running workshops.
Creativity in designing labs/activities and guiding discussions.
Strong organization and attention to detail (consistent formatting, version control, timelines).
Experience working with diverse communities and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Working conditions
Remote collaboration; milestone-based work with periodic check-ins.
Some schedule flexibility may be needed during curriculum deadlines before the program begins.
Compensation
This role is open to candidates regardless of location. Compensation will be based on the location of the successful candidate.
Expected pay range (hourly, USD): $29.00 – $45.00.
